The Parks family is currently homeless, and are staying
in the MacThrift Motor Inn in Virginia Beach. For eldest of the Parks
children, Miajah, 14, the lack of privacy is one of the toughest
changes to adapt to, and she finds solace by hiding under the covers.

"We had half a watermelon left, and he painted all the
fence posts," said Barbara Chupp, "so I thought we needed a treat."
Barbara and her husband Daniel Chupp, married for fifty years,tried to
find their small farm from this vantage point high on the Blue Ridge
Parkway.

It was a successful season for Trenton Bays, 9, of
Ferdinand, who shot his first deer this winter and his first quail at
the Kids Quail Hunt. His father James Bays says they spend every
weekend together, and were on their way to baseball practice after the
early morning hunt.

Courtney Carnahan, a sophomore at Jasper High School,
and Kevin Woodcox, a junior, waited for their ride to prom on the
sidewalk on the corner of 4th and Clay streets in Jasper, Ind.

Once a thriving manufacturing center, Zebulon, N.C. has
seen most of its industry relocate out of state in past decades,
leaving fewer residents to eke out a living in the struggling
economy.
